orchards registered a huge crop in the 2017/18 growing
season and recovered the stocks and shipments of juice
Brazil’s orange orchards, the global lead-
ers in fruit and juice production, are again
fully loaded in the 2017/18 crop year, af-
ter a significant drop in the main produc-
ing region, the Citriculture Belt located in
São Paulo and in Triângulo Mineiro. Data
estimated by the Fund for Citrus Protec-
tion (Fundecitrus), inDecember 2017, in this
area, indicated an increase of 57% from the
previous season. On account of this, the vol-
umes of orange juice shipped abroad also
reacted 23% in the second half of the year.
