In the
spotlight
The Brazilian fruit supply chain has al-
ready scheduled a series of gatherings in
2018. These are opportunities for the ex-
change of experiences, promotion and
publicity of products and services and, es-
pecially, social contacts. One of the pre-
viously scheduled major event is the In-
ternational Fair on Irrigated Tropical Fruit
Farming, in Mossoró, about 300 kilome-
ters from Natal, capital city of Rio Grande
do Norte. One of the largest national fruit
belts, renowned for its melons, watermel-
ons and pineapples and, consequently,
home to huge exporting companies.

takes turns with Petrolina, in Pernambuco,
on the other side of the São Francisco River,
in hosting the fair every other year.
The core theme of the fair will be as fol-

to the coordinator of Fenagri, Tiano Félix,
Secretary of Economic Development, Agri-
culture and Livestock in Juazeiro, the event
seeks to stimulate the introduction of new
technologies, especially in the area of water
resources. The region harbors great expec-
tations about the Irrigated Perimeter of Vale
do Salitre, which is now showing the first
good results derived fromthe plantations of
